Mr Smo – Artist Statement

I cultivate my objects rather than produce them. I create conditions in which they can emerge.

The final form is not predetermined – it becomes a material record of decisions and responses to time and matter.

I build layers in which errors, abandoned variants and traces of choices remain visible.
I treat the image as a construction of my doubts about the world.

My work leaves room for uncertainty.

I do not explain – I create situations in which something may be discovered.
